حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِى سُفْيَانَ طَرِيفٍ السَّعْدِىِّ عَنْ أَبِى نَضْرَةَ عَنْ أَبِى سَعِيدٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِفْتَاحُ الصَّلاَةِ الطُّهُورُ وَتَحْرِيمُهَا التَّكْبِيرُ وَتَحْلِيلُهَا التَّسْلِيمُ وَلاَ صَلاَةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَقْرَأْ بِـ ( الْحَمْدُ ) وَسُورَةٍ فِى فَرِيضَةٍ أَوْ غَيْرِهَا. قَالَ أَبُوعِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ. وَفِى الْبَابِ عَنْ عَلِىٍّ وَعَائِشَةَ. قَالَ وَحَدِيثُ عَلِىِّ بْنِ أَبِى طَالِبٍ فِى هَذَا أَجْوَدُ إِسْنَادًا وَأَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِى سَعِيدٍ وَقَدْ كَتَبْنَاهُ فِى أَوَّلِ كِتَابِ الْوُضُوءِ. وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِىِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ. وَبِهِ يَقُولُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِىُّ وَابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ وَالشَّافِعِىُّ وَأَحْمَدُ وَإِسْحَاقُ أَنَّ تَحْرِيمَ الصَّلاَةِ التَّكْبِيرُوَلاَ يَكُونُ الرَّجُلُ دَاخِلاً فِى الصَّلاَةِ إِلاَّ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَسَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَبَانَ مُسْتَمْلِىَ وَكِيعٍ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ مَهْدِىٍّ يَقُولُ لَوِ افْتَتَحَ الرَّجُلُ الصَّلاَةَ بِسَبْعِينَ اسْمًا مِنْ أَسْمَاءِ اللَّهِ وَلَمْ يُكَبِّرْ لَمْ يُجْزِهِ وَإِنْ أَحْدَثَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ أَمَرْتُهُ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعَ إِلَى مَكَانِهِ فَيُسَلِّمَ إِنَّمَا الأَمْرُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ. قَالَ وَأَبُو نَضْرَةَ اسْمُهُ الْمُنْذِرُ بْنُ مَالِكِ بْنِ قُطَعَةَ.
Abu-Sa'īd said, "The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, 'The key to prayer is purification, its consecration[1]is [in the initial] testifying to God’s greatness, and the end of its consecration[2] is in saying the (final) salutation[3]. A peson's prayer is not valid without reciting "All praise"[4] and [another] chapter (of the Qur'ān) – whether in an obligatory prayer or otherwise.'"[5] Footnotes: [1] (Tahrīm) Entering the state of sanctity for prayer. [2] (Tahlīl) Ending the state of sanctity for prayer. [3] Saying "God's peace and mercy be upon you" at the end of the prayer. [4] This refers to al-Fātihah, the first chapter of the Qur'ān. [5] Although this hadīth indicates that it is compulsory to recite another chapter after reciting al-Fātihah, it is weak and contradicts a more sound hadīth, therefore it cannot be used as evidence of a rule. حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ وَأَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْيَمَانِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِى ذِئْبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَمْعَانَ عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا كَبَّرَ لِلصَّلاَةِ نَشَرَ أَصَابِعَهُ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ حَسَنٌ. وَقَدْ رَوَى غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِى ذِئْبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِمْعَانَ عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ فِى الصَّلاَةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ مَدًّا. وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْيَمَانِ وَأَخْطَأَ يَحْيَى بْنُ الْيَمَانِ فِى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ.

وَإِنَّمَا يُرْوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِى حَبِيبٍ الْبَجَلِىِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَوْلُهُ. حَدَّثَنَا بِذَلِكَ هَنَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ طَهْمَانَ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِى حَبِيبٍ الْبَجَلِىِّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ نَحْوَهُ وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ. وَرَوَى إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنِ النَّبِىِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَحْوَ هَذَا. وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَيْرُ مَحْفُوظٍ وَهُوَ حَدِيثٌ مُرْسَلٌ وَعُمَارَةُ بْنُ غَزِيَّةَ لَمْ يُدْرِكْ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ. قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِى حَبِيبٍ يُكْنَى أَبَا الْكَشُوثَى وَيُقَالُ أَبُو عُمَيْرَةَ.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ حَدَّثَنِى مَالِكُ بْن أَنَسٍ حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِىُّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ وَأَبِى سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِىِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ إِذَا أَمَّنَ الإِمَامُ فَأَمِّنُوا فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ وَافَقَ تَأْمِينُهُ تَأْمِينَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِه. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ أَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "If the imām(1) says 'āmīn'(2), then say 'āmīn', for indeed whoever utters 'āmīn' in unison with the angels, will have his past sins forgiven.(3)" Footnotes: (1) Prayer leader (2) A word used after supplication which means, "God, answer [my prayer]," similar to the word “amen.” It is said by the imām in prayer after reciting al-Fātihah, the opening chapter of the Qur’ān. حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ وَابْنُ أَبِى عُمَرَ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِىِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلاَةَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى يُحَاذِىَ مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ. وَزَادَ ابْنُ أَبِى عُمَرَ فِى حَدِيثِهِ وَكَانَ لاَ يَرْفَعُ بَيْنَ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ.
'Abdullāh Ibn-'Umar Ibnul-Khaṭṭāb said, "I saw the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders when he commenced the prayer, when he bowed down, and when he raised his head from bowing." 'Abdullāh Ibn-'Umar Ibnul-Khaṭṭāb said, "I saw the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, raise his hands until they were level with his shoulders when he commenced the prayer, when he bowed down, and when he raised his head from bowing."
